Enjoy Your Next Backyard BBQ with this Great New Recipe!

            SUMMER TIME!!!  The sun is out!  The weather is HOT!  And I love it!  More than the weather, summer means grilling season!  I don’t know if there’s anything better than a good barbeque!  Speaking of, here’s a great recipe you may want to try:

Grilled Chicken with Homemade Barbeque Sauce

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 35 minutes

Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients: 1 ½ tablespoons of olive oil; ¼ cup of diced onion; 2 cloves of garlic minced; 5 tablespoons of ketchup; 3 tablespoons of honey; 3 tablespoons of brown sugar; 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar; 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce; salt and pepper to taste; and 2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts.

Directions:

• Preheat grill for medium-high heat.
• Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until tender. Stir in ketchup, honey, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for a few minutes to thicken sauce. Remove from heat, and allow to cool.
• Lightly oil the grill grate. Dip chicken in sauce, and turn to coat. Cook on the grill for 10 to 15 minutes, turning once. Move chicken to the skillet with sauce. Simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side.

Public Service Recognition Week

Thank You Public Servants for Helping and Protecting Us All!!!

            We live in a great country!  It’s filled with incredible people who don’t get enough credit for the work they do… I’m talking about soldiers, fire fighters, police officers, EMS technicians, and teachers.

            These people keep our country going.  They protect our freedoms.  They keep our streets safe.  They educate us to be leaders and better people.  Every day our lives are touched by public servants. 

            May 1-7 is Public Service Recognition Week.  I know for a fact that public servants don’t receive nearly enough money or credit for the jobs they perform.  So, at  TSS One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning™, we would like to do our small part to help public servants in the area.

Brief Earth Day History and How We Can Help

In 1970, Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, proposed the first nationwide environmental protest "to shake up the political establishment and force this issue onto the national agenda."

At the time, Americans were consuming leaded gas through massive V8 sedans. Industry belched out smoke and sludge with little fear of legal consequences or bad press. Air pollution was commonly accepted as the smell of prosperity. Environment was a word that appeared more often in spelling bees than on the evening news.

On April 22, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment. Thousands of colleges and universities organized protests against deterioration of the environment. Groups that had been fighting against oil spills, polluting factories and power plants, raw sewage, toxic dumps, pesticides, freeways, the loss of wilderness, and the extinction of wildlife suddenly realized they shared common values.

Earth day 1970 achieved a rare political alignment, enlisting support from Republicans and Democrats, rich and poor, city slickers and farmers, tycoons and labor leaders. The first Earth Day led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species acts.

The movement was so positive and successful that Sen.Nelson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom-the highest honor given to civilians in the United States-for his role as Earth Day founder.
